You'll be okay, not too bad an airline.

I do believe they have been voted one of the better smaller airlines. Also one of the cheaper. They will start flying direct to London in November too

No that will be in Dubai. Here in Muscat we are much slower, so is the way of life compared to the others in the UAE.

Slower is good. I have become accustomed to cuddling up in bed with my cat, Horlicks, and digestive biscuit - being a single working mum and all that. Will I be laughed at for my boring fuddy duddy bedtime routine??!!

Talking Re: Job in Oman? Help!

No, but seriously, is it going to be a big problem for me in Muscat on my own with two kids? Apart from the obvious problem of being on my own with two kids! What do people do after work? I can't do nightlife any more, much. etc. Don't go out much in UK, but I guess it's a hell of a lot different in Muscat. It was in Dubai - we had a very different life before I had a family.

I don't think you'll have too much trouble there. It is a relaxed place with a lot more leeway than it's brothers it borders.
Oman Air are a good airline and one day they will hopefully manage to take off within 2 hours of the time they were supposed to! I have flown them many times and never had any issues.
If you do decide to make the move I can PM you my sister-in-law's email address as she has been there for over 15 years and can help you once you're there to meet other people with kids etc.

Thanks - that's very kind of you. I have been told that my monthly salary of 1600 Riyals does not include utilities etc. How much on average do you think I will need to allow for a family of three (with a helper, probably) in my MoE furnished accommodation - whatever it might be like?

Thanks

Justin will probably be able to give you a better assessment but utility bills are never that high, aspecially if you're coming from the UK. AirCon bills in the summer can get high but it depends if you have central A/C or wallbangers!
