Hi,
It's been 9 years since I last lived in Jeddah, so no idea on current pricing. A little more information in your question would be useful - eg are you looking for western style compound accommodation or off compound? Looking for serviced apartment or non?

If you're looking for compounds, best and quickest way is to get in touch with them directly and get a price. When I was there, the most popular compounds tended to be Sierra Village ( Arabian Homes ) , Sharbatly and Al Basteen which also housed the British Continental School.

The factors in cost are location and also on compound or not on a compound. A flat in Shara Arbaeen will be a lot cheapre than a place on a maximum security compound run for paranoid westerners employed by the military

If your employer is not helping you with thius, then I suggest you rethink it all. Housing is such an important factor. What else will the employer mess about with ? Residency ? Visas ? Salary payments ? ::Leave tickets ? Transport issues like driving licence ?

I'm new to Jeddah myself and still haven't found my own place, but my impression so far is that most places, except for small studio flats, are unfurnished.
