I've just been offered a job in Abu Dhabi!!!
Hi Guys,
I have just been a offered a great job in Abu Dhabi working in Al Raha beach.
I've been offered AED 33,500/ per month - though I will have to pay for accomodation, bills, car, flights back to the UK.
I have a fiance who will be coming out with me - could anyone tell me how much a "half decent" car would cost me?? and accomodation-wise we would be looking for a 2bedroomed appartment in a "half decent" area, how much would it cost I have seen around AED85,000/ per year???.
If anyone could help it would be much appreciated

85K a year?? nope I think you will be lucky to get anything as cheap as that, Shakh will know as he is in AD. Congratulations!!!

I would push for a bit more too. At least get flights to the UK every year and medical / dental thrown in. I turned down AED38K per month earlier this summer, just didn't feel it was enough.

If you dont mind me asking what position have you been offered at Al Raha Beach Hotel?
Sorry cant give you much advice on Abu Dhabi as l am new here too, and have been looking for an appartment for myself 1 bed, had a budget of 70k AED, couldnt find much.

We live in Abu Dhabi, and i'd suggest you push for more money.
A 2-bed is likely gonna cost you at least 120k, unless you're happy with a grotty little place.

If you are working in Al Raha, trust me get an appt near Al Raha, the traffic inthe morning heading that way can be a nightmare. It will aslo be cheaper in that area than in the city of AD

Depending on what job? The hotel trade is not greatly paid here in ME so 35K is not a bad salary
Plus he/she is single?
All this has to be taken into account and maybe he/she could live closer to Al Maha

I am living in Abu Dhabi.
The 2 bed room flat will cost you between 100k to 120k per year.
Al Raha beach is around 50 km from Abu dhabi city.
You can buy a decent car TOyota corolla for around 65k dhs, Toyota camry for 85k dhs

Why buy a brand new car? My 2yo Jeep Cherokee cost considerably less than a brand new Corolla...and I know which one I would prefer to drive on these roads.

85k!!! my car allowance is only 1,400p /month!! = 16,800p/year

I was expecting a company car (as in the UK).... sounds like this car allowance of AED1,400 p/month is sweet F/A...
I was looking at car rental and they want AED2,000 p/month....

Yes. decent car if you rent, will cost you 2000 dhs a month. Alternatively, if you take car loan from bank, let s say 60k, you will have to pay 2000dhs a month on a 3 year loan.

I went straight to the hertz website (and other major car renters) they quote around 25k for one year....thats just over 2k per month...
