the It's Raining, It's Pouring thread

so come on, let's have a good old British style whinge about the weather.

I'll start, shall I?

My 10 minute walk to work today was stretched to 30 by firstly avoiding large puddles, and then working up the dignity to de-shoe and roll up in the middle of the road for the final crossing... had to wait until I was out of view of a schoolbus-full of kids

I hear on the radio that Emirates is totally blocked in the northern direction from the first Sharjah turn off to National Paints.

Ankle deep outside my office, which is now an island :p

I love it, makes a nice change, even though the roof is leaking in my house but kind enough to fall into the bath :D

Must remember to not keep my window of car open as you quickly forget the effect of a passing speeding car going through a puddle has on you being soaked inside the car ......

Our street has been transformed into a kneedeep puddle...
Taking the little one to school this morning, there was a Ferrari going through a pool that reached the windscreen...that was funny....
I love to go to the desert in a couple of week, cause it will have turned really green just like last year...

JVR, the image of you rolling up your trousers and wading through a puddle in the road is wonderful... You're a village boy at heart, aren't you?

Me, I'm liking the rain even tho I get soaked every time I go out for a fag break.

What's going on? yesterday we had pictures of snow covered cars in teh Saudi desert, not we're having floods and torrential downpourings in Dubai.

Is this the effect of global warming?

To be honest, I'm not reet bothered, as long as its sunny and warm by the time I get out there...

Cold, wet and windy here in Nottingham. One word descriptor: Bleak.

Re: the It's Raining, It's Pouring thread

Is smoking banned in public places there too? What the score in Riyadh?

Just thinking about Inse's fag break and having to go out?

Again, not reet bothered, as I don't smoke anymore ( 15 months now ) but might take it up again one day if I get the urge.

I've lived here since 1991, and to be honest, when I first moved here, I loved it, but I've had enough of it now, and really want to leave! It's like the end of the line of what once was a beautiful relationship.

my drive home along SZR was not pleasant!
and in Umm suqeim had to drive through a few flooded streets where the water was alarmingly high!

A friend of mine in Um Sequim is under water - and there are steps some four foot high up to her front door!

enter the water slowly. then speed up gradually to abt 10mph and keep it at a steady speed. creates a wave in front of the car which lowers the water height behind the wave.

what, you mean you don't speed up to ensure maximum tidal wave...that's where i've been going wrong then...

you only speed up to ensure maximum tidal wave if you see someone stood next to the road :sneaky:
