Default Insurance question?

Im moving to Dubai 1st Jan 2011 on a four month contract riding racehorses...i am covered insurance wise for work, however i am not sure what kind of personal insurance to take out while im there? Thanks! Jess

I saw a pack of dates the other day that claims that whoever eats them will be protected from poisons or evil spirits on that day. I guess we can call that insurance?

so if we eat them daily then we are sorted for the rest of our lives? you been to Global Village again then?

Health insurance is a must - and should be provided by your employer.

You don't really need anything else out of the ordinary.

Probably should be, but isn't required by law unless someone is on an Abu Dhabi visa.

Yep sorry logged in on my Sisters account by accident. Yeah so what about medical??? Whats the deal if you get sick out there is it private healthcare like USA?

You pay with a credit card - and the bills are high. 10minutes with the doctor for mini-millhouse the other day... 700Dh. (120quid).

In essence yes, although there are government hospitals they aren't free. Best to get decent private cover, just in case. Naturally you hope it's a waste of time, but if you do get ill or have an accident it will be money well spent.
