Default Info from British ex pats in Dubai

I am thinking of starting a retail business in Dubai aimed mainly at British expats.

Is there any particular area or areas in which ex pats are located?

Would very much appreciate some information in this regard.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I am aware that they are spread out in Dubai. However, I think, there would be some areas where they are in large number.

It would be related to food/fashion industry. Mainly British products from Britain.

The main thing is if you are supplying retail is to keep the prices in relation to UK prices. With the pound being so low against the dirham we are paying well over the odds for clothing at British Stores - ie M&S , Debenhams, New Look etc. And the best thing is, that these clothes have a pound and dirham price on which does not match - ie a dress in Debenhams would have a price on for say 100 pound and they are trying to sell at 900 dirhams. Well over the odds. I know many people who are buying over the internet and getting clothing aramexed in as its still cheaper than buying here. Rip off . Also, Im sure we get the second rated goods, as the quality always seems poor to me.

Rogerin...

You can do an internet search for businesses that help you set up a business here in Dubai. I have my own business/consultancy and can give you a few pointers. Best you visit, do some research and your homework to see if it is a viable proposition.

Would love to have some pointers from you, whenever it is convenient for you.

In the last 2 weeks have been there twice but for different reasons. Might have to come there again in about 4/6 weeks time.

Thanks for the offer.

Your desired food is already on the menu. Question is, in which area/s?

As to trainers, I guess there are many other stores. Nonetheless, will certainly keep this in mind.

Thanks.

No worries. Just private mail (PM) me when ready. At least I can tell you what the costs and charges are for setting up and ongoing costs with a business sponsor here, so you can shop around and get the best deal.

this is how it works, the nike shop sells nikes, but not loads, same with adidas, etc etc

I can't find one big shop that sells proper trainers, cool stuff, different stuff - all types of makes, like you get in london, new york etc etc, proper good stuff.
