Hi all, just wondering how well the IT industry pays in Dubai. I'm a Technical Writer with close to 3 years experience, wondering if Dubai can be a nice place to hide in while the recession passes.

hi there,

sussing out salaries for IT in the GCC is a bit of a black art with some more 'junior' positions being filled by staff from asia and not getting paid well to more senior roles setup to attract more 'western staff' and being quite lucrative.

have a sniff around jobserve.com using locations such as 'middle east' and the names you've mentioned and you'll get a feel for the rates. also some bigger personnel consultancies such as michael page have a presence in the GCC as well and they'd be worth looking at too.

i'm sure there are far more experienced and wiser opinions on the bored that can help as well, just wait and see!

wouldnt bother mate, Dubai is on its arse at the moment and it only just starting here... gonna get a lot worse before it gets better.
