G'Day,
i've finally plucked up the courage to get my act together and work towards coming over to Dubai to get a job and move from Sydney Australia. A few things I want to know from your wealth of experiences...
1. How realistic is it to be expecting to get an apartment as part of my package? I am a relationship manager specialising in business banking with 4 years of experience.
2. Is it worthwhile to visit the recruitment agencies once I arrive there ?
3. Im a little nervous as I dont know anyone there and only know a couple of friends of friends. Is the expat community helpful, Im scared as I have been told that blonde females do get harrassed on the streets by the locals.
4. I would be interested to speak to anyone in the banking industry about their experiences as this would be the industry I would be working in. Please feel free to email me at [email protected]

Getting the appartment can be included in the package depending on the position, company and profile.

regarding the exapt comunity I believe it helps a lot and don't worry about not knowing anyone cause soon you will be.


everyone gets harrassed but not in a way that can harm you, they can flirt or try to talk to you but thats not a daily thing and not only locals, it happens to men and women, I had women following me in thier cars many times (not that i didn't like it ) and dubai is full of blondes. Dubai has opened up a lot and these are old things, there is a huge amount of expats and locals started to know how to deal with them and started learning new habits, many locals are really nice and helpful some are still old fashioned.

I have 6 years of experience in the banking field I wouldn't mind helping at all with any question you have

Apartments r generally not included in the package. instead u get an annual rental allowance as part of ur package. Visiting recruitment agencies might be a good idea i suppose. Everyone has their own views on that though.

Expats in Dubai r scary. :scared: lol. i am kidding...... look at all of us. arent we nice? :scared: mmmmmmmmmwhahahahahaha. lol

There's plenty of info on recruitment agencies int eh faq, but best bet by sound of things would be to see them once on the ground there, or at least inform them that you'll be there to see them and see what they can do for you between dates you'll be there, as being there will show your serious about the whole thing...

hehe...yeah, it's definately a men watch your rears country, had a mate go there with his girlfriend and he asked about it at the hotel, they said definately take the girlfriend out with him, she'll be fine and would protect him from the guys *lol*
