If there was a property crash in Dubai..

Re: If there was a property crash in Dubai..
I heard a reliable report that map of the world is in trouble - prospective buyers not only have to but the land, have building approval for the villa but also have to make provisions for water, power and sewage disposal. Putting people off as the logisitics are horrendous.

More than a bit of worry if you have paid $5 million or more for a plot before you even start on the building!
Luckily I don't fall into that category

The Image Shack picture reveals that the thing that Grumpy Goat thinks is a wonky, incomplete outer barrier reef is actually the upper edges of the two main landmasses... the outer reef is there, but is very thin at the moment.

I thought that was always the case - they always said that you'd just be buying a heap of sand and it was up to you to pay for absolutely everything else, including the infrastructure for water, power, sanitation etc.

The obscenely rich people who own these islands will hire someone to give a shit about it. It's not that difficult to set up sanitation, water and electricity - just treat it like you would any remote location. Septic tank - large water storage tank - nuclear reactor in the back garden.

The bigger problem is that it is written in the law that only DEWA can supply elec and water to properties in Dubai - so there is no alternative...

I would imagine they'll argue about it for a while longer, and then they'll just throw some money at DEWA to make it happen. The law isn't a problem here, given that the ruler can issue a decree at any time creating a new power and water company specifially to service The World.

DEWAs solution (which made sense) was that they wanted to bring in outside companies in to run the supply for the world (operating as a separate company) but were told by DM that they couldn't.
That was over 6 months ago now and nothing has moved since then.
It seems there is a bit of a stalemate going on at the moment.

This crash is even scarier

Developers are in such a hurry to get their projects off ground, there is absolutely no concern for quality and safety.
This was the advert for this project when it was launched! It was supposed to be delivered at the end of this year.

No wonder the warranty on new buildings is 1 year in Dubai, whereas in places like Australia it is 10 years.

Only one person killed??
You'd have thought that sadly thedeath toll will be greater than that, but who knows if it will ever "officially" rise. If I recall last year only 47 or so workers lost their lives on the building sites.
The Dubai Dream?
