Well if anyone does want one I can always arrange to get one from US as long as you get some dollars to me beforehand

And right after that they will be working on V3 so it may be better to wait until then.

Hi Shakh, I may have the answer to your iPhone problem. Couple of things that have put me off going for it
a)it has issues that are still being ironed out, V2 is already under way and I really don't want my phone to be dead because I have used it as an iPod.
b)Google have confirmed the GPhone which if rumours are to be believed will be here in December and it is meant to be as good if not better.
Not to worry though, apple have launched the new iPod touch which is the iPhone without the phone features, so your daughter can use wifi, iPod and even buy music using the new apple wifi store have a look at

hope this helps.

Cheers, mate. Yes, I have heard of the google phone - there was some speculation that they were going to launch it at gitex. The cool thing about the g-phone would be the free calls.... if it happens!

Part of the whole point of the iPhone is that it's got a built-in iPod... so why should using the iPod bit kill the phone bit?

As for free calls - get real! They might be available through the GPhone in other countries, but the TRA will never allow them here.

Erm - what are you talking about?

Actually, that's a direct contradiction of what's being said by all the reputable technology news sources. The GPhone (about which nothing is really known yet in terms of hardware and software) is highly unlikely to appear in the USA until the first quarter of 2008 at the earliest, and reports from those who have seen the prototypes say that it's no better than the iPhone.

Yeah, I guess if the free calls were VoIP-based it wouldn't be a problem. I was thinking that Google would have some kind of deal with a mobile carrier to allow free calls, which of course wouldn't happen here. "Free calls from your mobile" starts to sound a little less attractive when you have to add the caveat "as long as you're in range of a wifi hotspot, and you can only call people who are logged into Skype, not landlines or mobiles"
