Default How to set up voicemail on Etilisat

Does anyone know how I enable voicemail on Etilisat? I have tried everything with no luck.

The website says call 123. That then tells me I don't have voicemail set up so to call 125. 125 has many menus, none of which helps.

So I dialled 101 and the lady there took 11 minutes to try and find out, and then told me I had to call 123. So I tried the whole circuit again to see if I'd missed something.

How is something so basic, so hard. This is an absolute joke. I'm starting to get my first real taste of UAE customer (non) service.

Anyone can help?

Sorry no idea but I always find its best to call into an Etisalat office when you are trying to sort something out. Try the Airport Road branch or find one of the booths in various malls.

Not help per se but in my experience especially if it is a number that you'll be using for work. The last thing you want is a voicemail message or the provision for any work shy, responsibility dodging chap to be able to leave a message on your phone.

People will direct dial your voicemail with whatever sorry tale applies and then be uncontactable nano seconds later.

If you have voicemail it means people can leave you a message which means the action is with you.

If you don't, they have to double or triple-ringback you or send a text. That way you know the strange number ringing is serious.

I rarely answer unknown / random mobile numbers because 9/10 times it's someone I don't want to talk to. I DO answer these numbers when there's a potential upside - delivery / taxi driver / waiting for a call for a reason etc.

Good point!

Will cancel the voicemail (or rather will cancel trying to get the voicemail)

I hate listening to messages anyway.

I have voicemail on my work landline. Never logged in once to listen to it, I guess it's full now so you can't leave them.

they will call back.

Honestly mate, not worth it. If it's important someone will call back.

Although, answering your mobile seems an absolute must for life here, everything is done by mobile number....hence why I have 1372 unread texts.

Yes voicemail is not common here in the Middle East, if you are in Canada people there are obsessed with old stuff like voicemail, picture messaging while they have internet applications now like IM or Whatsapp !

I have voicemail. This is what happens:

50% of people simply don't leave a message.
50% of people don't know what a voicemail system is and leave messages that go "Hello? Hello? Sir? Hello?" Then they hang up.

You don't need voicemail.

I'm the same, I don't answer calls whose numbers are not in my contacts and I have never had my voicemail activated and don't want to either.
