How to plan for going back to the UK?
I have decided that I will be leaving Dubai next year ( immediately after April) but I am increasingly daunted by the actual process of going back to the UK, in other words how am I going to do it in practice, and it’s actually beginning to stress me out already. I have no liabilities here in Dubai so am not constrained in that way. I have a family home back in the UK so I do not have an issue with that. My only priority therefore is going to be getting a job but how do I go about doing that if I am here. Can companies arrange telephone interviews for me? Do I take all my annual leave for next year (30 days) and submit job application before that and then try to get as many interviews as I can. What is the best option as I need to return to the UK with a job. Any advice and support would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: How to plan for going back to the UK?
I can't really see much of a problem there, especially if you already have family there.
Send out your CVs like normal, use agents if that's a route you'd usually adopt. Give your email and mobile number as contact details - even a UK mobile if you have it with you here. Wait and see what comes about. If using an agent, you can ask them to line up several interviews in a couple of days, so that when you fly back, you can go to several. They should have $$ appearing in their eyes when they see the Dubai connection. Try to be efficient in your journeying back to the UK, especially if you're taking holiday over here (no-brainer) and if you're limited to your 90-day tax thingumy. Mr Kitty will be doing much the same thing next year. |

FFS, is it only me or is anyone else getting totally pissed off with crappy shit questions like...how do i teach my myself to to pee in bed, my mummy is in a new relationship, what should I do. MAN UP, get a grip and fewk off! I'm back, I'm pissed and I'm looking for victims! have a good day... |
Re: How to plan for going back to the UK?
The biggest obstacle is arranging for interviews from Dubai.
Once you know when you want to leave the country, start sending out cvs a few months beforehand. Get phone interviews all lined up. Then when you have a request for a face to face interview, fly over for it, telling your boss it's annual leave. If successful, accept the job offer, then tell your current boss hasta la vista. Leave Dubai. Simple. Alternative is to prepare yourself for a few months of unemployment and only seriously look for jobs whilst back in the UK. |

Whoa there dude, that's a big step to take. First, you should learn to pee on command, preferably over a potty, then take on the challenge of walking...try crawling first.

have to agree with roadking, bit of a mindless question but i certainly wouldn't be handing notice until I had a new position to go to. things in the UK are still very uncertain and tough in most sectors.
