287k pa, that is barely 24k per month....for a family of 4 that is well low! you need to let us know how much your allowances are in addition.

Thank you for the insight so far. Just a little bit more info, it's a UK based company.
So what is a border line poor salary there? Am I looking at it or close to it?
What's the cost of living approximately? The research varies depending on which source you use. As a comparison, I take it Dubai is more costly?
Again, TIA.

25k for the utilities over the year
60k per kid for schools
2k a month on food for the family (24k a year)
2k month per car (24k) (basic)
343k or 28kmonth is your basic running costs.
Add on some expat things like, a maid (2k a month with the visa), a second car (2k) and some activities and you're soon pushing 35k a month to live and shit. And youv'e not even had a beer yet.
When I was a family of three (1 kid), I once calculated that my expenses (with: 2 cars, maid, house, AC, food etc.) averaged 38k a month.
I reckon you need 50k all in with two kids as a minimum to give some breathing space. The recruiter (not Scamp - he's honest) will so some science with exchange rates and tax adjustments and tell you it's 35k

Professionally you may be competing with those from the former Raj. For them the salaries mentioned her are astronomical.

24k per month is OK . . . but just OK. Provided your housing is fully covered, as is education (the latter of which can be astronomical).
Remember that Abu Dhabi housing comes completely empty - that means you need to buy the refrigerator etc. Does the package also include a settling-in allowance for things like that?
It is not a city where public transport can be relied upon. You will need a car.
I usually say to people that you should be getting net 30-40% more to make a move to the UAE worth it. Is this offer netting 30% more for you?
Dubai won't be better.

Your allowances are the most important part of your post.
I have 3 kids and our food bill is more like 6k a month.
Housing 165 a year would be a 3 bed apartment at Al zeina, off island, partial sea view.

I agree on the food bill but disagree on the housing. 4 bed houses in my compound are going for 155 and we're bang in the middle of the island. 10 minutes from anywhere, pretty much.
