Hello Folks

Can anyone recommend a good doctor / hospital in Bahrain? My wife had breast cancer and finished the chemo a year ago but needs to have access to a good GP even so.

I use Awali Hospital which is very good. Some may recommend Bahrain Specialist Hospital but I don't go there unless absolutely neccessary as they are very much a $$ facility (ie. you go in with a sore throat and walk out after a barrage of tests and a bag of medicine). American Mission although older has a good reputation as well but would definitely try Awali. (Phone: 1775 3333)

My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago. We went through nightmares at private hospitals and clinics..Ended up at Salmanyia medical Complex(recommended by local women I work with who had gone through worse).. Dr. Shahab in the oncology area. He is brilliant and the staff are great. They are in the back wing close to the Emergency entrance of hospital.

Awali - GP and child birth/care

BDF - serious car injury/trauma

International - Cardiology

Only thing I have experience of is dont go to BDF for oncology,

Firstly, I hope your wife is doing well and continues to beat it. Thanks for the tip and we'll keep it in mind. The plan is to continue under the NHS care for check ups and all that but, its good to know what local options there are.

There is a Think Pink Breast Cancer Society in Bahrain (Julie Sprakel is the founder), if you want to get in touch with them they will be able to put you in touch with the right person ([email protected]). When one if my friends found a lump she recommended Dr Heli at Royal Bahrain Hospital.
