Can someone confirm this - whats the deal with holding your wife or husband's hand in Riyadh. A Saudi chap just told me its not acceptable and the bearded moral police may take exception. I'm not sure if he is taking the piss!

Funny I just had this discussion today with a colleague whos just got back from Saudi! As far as I'm aware its true! Public displays of affection are not really the done thing, save it for when your home. And when I say not the done thing, really don't do it- I'm sure some Saudi based people will be able to draw a clearer picture but seeing as a couple got thrown in prison and deported from Dubai for a 'peck' on the cheek witnessed by a 2 year old Emarati, I would say its gonna be worse in KSA! Make sure you have your marriage certificate with you as well just in case!
