HMRC Guidlines

HMRC have issued new guidance about how the SRT will operate as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and recognises that current conditions may impact the ability to move freely to and from the UK. If you -
  • Are quarantined or advised by a health professional to self-isolate in the UK as a result of the virus.
  • Find yourself in a ‘lockdown’ situation as a result of the virus.
  • Are unable to leave the UK due to the closure of international borders.
  • Are asked by your employer to return to the UK temporarily as a result of the virus.
HMRC consider that the circumstances are 'exceptional' and you can disregard up to 60 days of those spent in the UK as a result of the exceptional circumstances.

I think it warrants two posts given the importance.

That's good info for us stuck in the UK if this drags on well past April 5th.

Pretty much globally I think.

China has started to open up from the total lock down in Wuhan but only to a point that is more in line with the rest of the world. Italy might be in a similar position in the north in another month, but the south has yet to see its peak. Spain will peak probably a few weeks later followed by the UK and a number of other European nations. U.S will be in a similar position but more variable due to its geography. Sales of guns and ammunition will continue to see large increases.

And yes, second wave probably October or November, actually necessary for proper field testing of a vaccine which might just be on the cards by about that sort of time if there is a real push.

Qatar is now pretty much under curfew, everything closed by 7pm as I understand it.

Just hard to see this being rolled back anytime soon.

As I see it, the US has been the last to fall (albeit quite spectacularly), and nothing will happen globally until the US has sorted its shit out. I'm hoping that vaccines are given out on a lottery system based on birthdays - like the movie.
