Good luck with your decision.

The fees at the Corniche have recently rocketed up - scans used to be AED 150, now AED1000. I believe a C Section has gone up from AED2500 to around AED15,000.

Unsurprisingly, staff wages (according to someone I met who worked there) have not gone up. Also, interestingly, they still operate a pay scale dependent on your nationality, Brits at the top and getting lower from there on.

Who says colonialism is dead?

At the moment they are offering 60,000dh per year for accommodation so i'm assuming that might be enough for a shed????? Do ALL schools have to be paid for??? only my 14 year old prob for education - my 18 year old is at college here doing mechanics....... maybe it would be cheaper for me to pay for him to stay here lol!!!

My partner will also be looking for a job when we get there. At the mo he works for the ambulance service but is a qualified mechanic, has worked in Gatwick airport and also done a stint for the prison service. Anyone got any ideas regarding jobs for him???? How hard is it to find work???
That is the most pathetic housing allowance I've heard of in recent times. I don't think you would even get a shed!
Yes all schools have to be paid for - only the nationals get free education here. I would def leave your 18 y.o. at home.
I know you said you are planning to get married but it would be in your interests to do that before you got here if at all poss, otherwise your partner would only get a visit visa and would have to do a visa run every 60 days (? the actual amount of days keeps varying, was only 30 for a while.) I'm not convinced he would find it very easy to find well-paid work with his background, tbh.
Sorry if this all sounds off-putting but unless the Corniche are offering you a fantastic salary I'm not sure that this sounds like a good move for you.

True...

WIS on SZR had a guy Turner, supposed to be the best head in UAE..

Guy still couldn't make the place run like a proper school....

ha ha fab heads, who? BSAK have never had any fab heads in 12 years. They were all jumped up little farts that were disliked by the teaching staff and the parents.

They do now have a head of secondary who has done wonders for the school who is respected by the teaching staff, pupils and parents.

BM is the head now at yas, and i dealt with him not in secondary school parent capacity but as the PTA and he was really good and helpful, as far as I was aware he wasnt disliked. and yes totally agree with you now on the really fabbo sec head now, he is extremely knowledgable, helpful, willing to go one step further with the kids, and a lovely guy.
