Hi there, i've just joined up with this website and thought i'd say hi to you all...am over here in Dubai (from London) for a couple of weeks to sort out my visas, and will eventually move for good at end of July.

I am currently learning the road system over here and hired car yesterday and took my first drive around here, god knows where i would have ended up had my cousins not been in the car with me lol.

If anyone knows of a good website where i can down load the road maps of dubai, that would be very much appreciated.

hello,

i'm a woman too and its really not that difficult. I had been using sat nav in the UK for 3 years and when I got here and I enquired about sat nav, most people just laughed at me. It is very easy to get around. I have however found that the interactive map on the Dubai Tourism website is useful so you may want to check it out. www.dubaitourism.ae and then click on the link.

as far as i know, there aren't any reliable maps, though there is the Street Explorer book, but roads change almost on a daily basis...you just get to know your way round pretty quickly to be honest...

yes, it would be confusing if you did that over here...try to drive on the right side of the road...you'll see immediate improvement...

The Explorer now does a road atlas which is pretty good- about 145Dhs. Trouble is it will be out of date next week.

i suppose yes...most of the rules are same.....its just u have more options and resources to learn in uk...... but here nnnnnnnnnnooooooooooo wayyyyyyyy - and u know UK systems are more user friendly

ma'an i had some damn close shaves today! the driving isn't bad at all, its the frigging road signs and the other lunatic drivers that one has to watch out for.
