Hello all !!
Right, so here I go. Currently in Brussels on a project and relaxing for a presentation due to the client tomorrow morning.
I didnt know which forum to write in, this or the Lounge but assumed that because I have my heart set on moving to the middle east ... i would make this forum my home!
I only ever go on one other forum (www.hotukdeals.com) which is my deal scouring tool but am going to give making this another regular.
A bit about me; I was born and bred in West london and am currently working in a company whose london office is based in canary wharf. I am mid 20's and am, I believe, a hard worker. Having my heart set on moving to Dubai or Saudi has fuelled my efforts, beaking boundaries which I never thought could be broken. Being sick of the way things are going in the UK, tax brackets, hoodies, foul weather ... and the list goes on, I want to move somewhere hot, clean, cheap (comparatively) and where I can focus on my career and strengthen reaping benefits of the country at the same time.
So ive been reading some of the threads on this forum but there is lots so I will continue reading after this post. I have only just decided today that I want to move out of Britain and into the middle east and will lurk around the forums in hope that it will help me along the process on becoming an expat.
This was mainly a (big) HELLO to everyone

You might want to look at that comparison closely before making THAT particular decision.....

Hello & welcome!
As single person in their 20's will have a lot more fun in Dubai. The biggest expense here is rent - largely comparable to London - but with a good income you can have a ball.
Do keep posting.

Re: Hello all !!
Thanks for the warm welcome guys and gals !
I realise the rental charges on accomodation are a lot but think its worth it as I wont have to deal with poor weather, hoodies and a whole bunch of other things. Of course, this is my opinion. Grass greener but I have family in dubai/abu dhabi and have been there many times (nearly every year) so have a gut feeling its a good "potential" decision.
Im looking at jobs in information security. It's a vast field but I am flexible right now, taking the move into account. Any tips/tricks to atleast head towards the right direction in terms of processes would be much appreciated.
Thanks again people !!

Hey Alisha,
Good to hear you have been offered a position and are making the move. Dubai certainly is VERY fun if not the most fun city in the world. You will not be making any mistakes. The money does a bit on the low side but if you are comfortable with that then its all systems go.
Few questions for you :-
what kind of field are you going into ?
How did you approach it ?
Where and how did you look for the recruiters and which ones helped you out most ? Specific recruiters would be great help
BEST OF LUCK !!!!!!!!!!

My friend is in IT and knows a recruitment consultant for IT field- so let me know.
This is an internal transfer within my company, and if I prove myself then I guess there are more opportunities after 8-10 months to grow up the ladder, and also go more regional.
I wonder if with £1000 a month cash Ill be able to get by with shopping, clubbing and saving for holiday money?
