Hi all,

Can anyone suggest a good provider for health insurance in Dubai?

There are loads of insurance companies who offer plans for UAE residents, but they vary widely. PLEASE speak to an independent broker so you can get proper advice.

I hav heard too many stories of people who go direct to an insurance company, but end up with a plan that doesn't cover them fully, or will not pay out in teh event of a major claim. It is no more expensive to go via a broker.

If you want specific advice, please PM me.

Things are changing. Legislation is due to come into effect in Dubai in January 2008 (was going to be July 2007, but postponed) stating that employers will have to provide basic cover for their employees. It will be a similar set up to Abu Dhabi. Be warned however, that cover is likely to be quite limited and many people will still want more comprehensive plans.

Then get some!

It's one of these things that you hope is a completet waste of money, but could turn out to be the best money you have ever spent.

BB- PM me. Don't worry, I don't do hard-selling

I am considering a Regional Cover Plan with AXA Insurance as it seems much cheaper than elsewhere. Mind you, if you pay peanuts, you probably get monkeys...handling the claim.

In a word - Yes.

The cheaper plans also tend to limit what they will actually cover. Have you spoken to an independent broker & obtained proper advice?

One thing that you can do is talk to your local hospital accounts bods and ask them who they deal with most, as what I found that if they do not have an account set up with the hospital it can be a pain as you will pay first and then reclaim from insurance later....They all seem to deal with AXA/BUPA and ALICO also watch for ''Not'' covering Chronic conditions, this list can be vast.
