Hi there

Myself and husband need to do a Hatta visa run on Weds 21 April. Please could someone advise how much we could expect to pay in taxi and where is best point in Dubai to take taxi from.

Also, if anyone wants to share taxi to save costs please let us know.

Not sure if taxi is viable as the taxi driver won't be able to do it! Highly unlikely to have possession of own passport and in any case likely to be border complications at both UAE and Oman sides.

Details are elsewhere but you need to formally exit UAE and then drive a few miles going through a security check before entering and exiting Oman (done in one go - they know the drill). It only works for those with 'visa on arrival' citizenships.

Hiring a car for the day may be a viable alternative though make sure you get Omani insurance cover.

Check on dubizzle, there are always people looking for others to do a visa run with. Also for illegal taxi services to the border because as ctfc said; a taxi driver will not be able to do it, as he doesn't have the paperwork and it is to far to walk between the UAE and the Omani checkpoints.

If you want to do it el cheapo you can better take the public bus to Fujairah and take a taxi to Dibba. There you ask the taxi driver to wait at the UAE checkpoint for you to do all the formalities, as you are able to walk between Oman and the UAE.

Thanks for that - could you let me know how much taxi to Dibba cost and how long total journey including bus likely to take?
