Default Has anyone stayed in a serviced apartment in Doha

Hi - I was wondering if anyone has anyone has had any experience of staying within any of the following serviced apartments within Doha:

W Hotel
Kempinski
Marriot
St Regis
Any others?

Was wondering if anyone had any idea of how much they typically charge for their 1/2 bed apartments and what their services and amenities are like?

I know they are quite expensive when compared to alternative accommodation (non-serviced apartments) but we were thinking it would probably be best to pay the extra for the first year of living in Doha until we find our feet, plus they all seem to be within walking distance of work.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks

"Intercon, Doha the city" - which is in west bay downtown opposite city centre mall (not the Intercon on the beach) also have serviced apartments, not cheap though. Unsure of a 1/2 bed, we had a 4 bed and was around QAR25k a month. We only stayed a couple of months whilst we got ourselves set up.

Plenty cheaper options around that area if you're paying for it or supplementing the cost . If someones wedging out for the Four Seasons then fine but the costs are astronomical and a blatant rip off.

Find a decent priced temp apartment then use that for a base to look for a permanent place . The quicker you get your own place the easier it is to settle .

We stayed in a 1 bed at the intercon Doha the city when we first arrived and paid QAR15000. Only stayed a month as wanted to get settled ASAP.
Within walking distance to everything ypu need when you first arrive or that's what we found. Good luck

Thanks all

I am in the process of getting some quotes. One question though - is negotiating or haggling frowned upon in the ME? Or are people not supposed to do this and just accept the price given/offered?

Leave it until you get here and haggle like mad. I know people in the Intercon city that are paying 14k for a 2 bed and in the W for 15k, both drove hard bargains. As CDB said there are other apartments not associated with hotels where you will pay less, The Guvenor has big 2 beds for 14k and there are others. Negotiating with a half wit on the end of the telephone before you arrive will be a pain in the arse.

Kemp is 20,300 for a 3 bed with additional maids room (includes en-suite).
