Evaunfortunately im your typical 'black' asian...ie i like anything from RnB, rap, hip hop, Soul and Dance.
So if you guys can recommend any joints, much appreciated. But i'm not necessarily looking for clubs....just want to know the various bars to check out etc.

There's a place that has a multitude of various nationalities and work backgrounds......... they also play good music, and you can meet many interesting people from different professions...........

The Metropolitan is a bit of a Dubai landmark...beware of being hijacked when leaving the 'snake' though...
for more of a multicultural evening, try TGI Thursdays in the Astoria Hotel in Bur Dubai, nice beer and a chinese takeaway available if you work up an appetite..

From exploring a bit myself, for pretty friendly places Barasti probably tops the list I guess - then maybe BarZar & Left Bank in Madinat - mix of expats and tourists.
Scarlett's at Emirates Towers and Zinc at Crowne Plaza seem pretty busy but relaxed with a mix of after work business crowd (right next to DIFC) and air crew out partying.
