Hi Guys and Gals,

can someone please advise me if this is a good offer

I have been offered a position as HR Manager for ME based in Dubai which includes

- 15000 AED basic pay
- 11000 AED housing allowance
- 2000 Transportation allowance
- return ticket
- Health cover

if someone could shed their thoughts that will be great.

i would also like to know where are the best places in Dubai to meet people from same background as me. I am currently based in London.

hi Mike and welcome!
are you single?? no kids involved? school fees are a crippler!! The housing allowance would just about get you a 2 bed apt - they are 115k in the building I am in. I would try and push the basic up if I was you. My friend is an HR Manager and is on 21K.

Hi everyone -

I am single and have no kids - so Blue Cat i may be looking for a 1bed flat... i wanted to check where will be best place to live, my office will be in Jadaf area near wasil hospital.
Any advice on socializing - where can i meet people... is this forum organise any meet-up events for expatriates.... i am more concern that i might feel lonely there as i am leaving wonderful friends and family behind..

hiya, the area you want to look for accomodation is near the Lamcy Plaza area - that is quite close to the Al Wasl Hospital. What type of industry are you going to be JR in???? not trying to snoop but if its an oil company you want to try and get more money!!! We do arrange nights out so don't worry you won't be left high and dry! We should really arrange something before everyone goes home for the summer and then something in July for those idiots who stay (me!). Dubai can be lonely for some - do you do sport???
