And where, precisely, are you meant to get one? I can just imagine rolling up to your local cop shop: "Good morning officer, I'd like a Good Conduct and Behaviour Certificate, please." "Have you been drinking, sir?"

I'm flummoxed about this as well but on Archie 159's post he/she says that a certificate from the UK is normal practice already if you apply for a high end job.

Doesn't distract from the fact what an utter ball ache it will be for everyone.

Yep, I got one of those even though I'm not Scottish and have never lived in Scotland. Is that what they mean?

You can apply in the UK for a police certificate already for visas of other countries. You can also apply for your criminal record if needed or a subject access request to the police to disclose what they hold on you.

Simple process if done in tandem with other stuff you do to move here, it shouldn’t cause a delay. I suppose it depends on the timing of when they need it ... in one of the articles it likens it to the medical so probably not something that would hold up a hiring process ?

Take it with a pinch of salt, but it looks like it's only for new work visa's only. Not for renewal of residency visa's.

"It means candidates applying for their first job in the UAE will have to produce certificates of good conduct."

"The screening is applicable only to new work visas."

"The good conduct certificate will be produced on applying for a job visa"

Had to get one of these (or something similar) when I was doing some work in a few prisons in Scotland years ago.

Ha ha. It was HMP Glenochil and HMYOI Polmont....

I did the ground investigation and then later managed / supervised the stabilisation of underlying abandoned mine workings for the development of a new wing at each of them.

Some scary moments..... and some hilarious ones.

You were digging under a prison.

This just gets better. I'm going to search for a prison break in Scotland years ago!

According to above link, UK certificates are to be accessed through ACRO. Although I'm surprised that partners don't need a certificate too like most other countries visa processes?
