Default Golf in Dubai

So I phoned the Creek golf and yacht club yesterday to try and book a tee time on the weekend. The correspondent told me that the members can book 10 days in advance and as a non member I could only book 3 days in advance, as a consiquence of this it is unlikely that I will ever get a round on the weekend.

It turns out because of business requirements that my free time falls mainly on the weekends (as is usual for many people) So how do I get a tee time without paying the extortionate membership fees?

Are there any members on here who are looking for some regular playing partners on the wekends? A bit cheeky I know but I dont see another option.

Plus it is a good opertunity to meet some new people.

are you mobile?? My DH sometimes plays up at RAK - nice course, about an hours drive. My Dad is a member there. You can also always get a game up at Al Ain as well. The Pro there is a mate of ours. It is a nine hole course but opening up to 18 soon. Also if you are free on Tuesdays my DH plays in a league at Emirates on alternate Tuesday nights. PM your information so I can get him to call you. He is offshore at the moment so I can't find out anymore information for you.

I think persistance is the key on this ocasion, but the members are likely to have booked the tee before I can phone the club.

If you are on Emirates Rd going towards RAK, it is on your right, near to the Sharjah car registration area (or whatever it is correctly called!)

When Sharjah was mentioned I was a little sceptical, but it does look nice there. And the prices seem reasonable too. Well reasonable for this part of the world.

Course in sharjah is nice, and its only Dh300 for 18 (two rounds of 9) if you are a UGA member.

I played the Els course last week (pre-opening day out), tough as hell around the greens but really quite lacking in any character. And I imagine the ludicrous green fees will put me off too.

RAK is an ok course. Some lovely holes, but some utter dogs too. and if you've played it a few times you realise the eagle opportunities that abound on some of the par 4s.

Still - its 18 holes - and less than Dh400 too

Hi Blue Cat - Faction here - remember the Jock that's not in oil or gas!!! Do you have any contacts for golf in Abu Dhabi. I've been in touch with the Abu Dhabi Golf Club prior to arriving, but they say they are not taking on any new members. A few games a month would do - or is it just as well to pay and play and if so is booking not too difficult? Any help would be appreciated.
