going on spouse visa - can i work before it's in place?

My husband has a visa being organised through his company, and I am going as his spouse, his visa will not necessarily be finalised by the time we get to Dubai (in 2 weeks), so what I want to know is can I work before it is finalised?
Any ideas please?
Thanks

No....... you cannot work without a visa (a labour card won't be issued without a visa)

It does however appear that the legislation is targetted at the blue-collar (or stained lunghi) section of the workforce. I have come across expats who do the "visa run" every two months. It's not to be recommended - in that situation you would have zero protection from UAE law in case of any dispute.

Contract or no contract the labour department/law does nothing to protect blue collared workers

I wonder how many people actually arrive out here on a Temporary Work Visa. very few I would imagine.
