yes in some ways it is, but now there is more shops than before, us folks in ad had to drive up the main road for 3 hours (over a zillion speed humps) to go to dxb to go to ikea (of all places) and deira city center because ad only had hamden centre and madinet zayed shopping centre

nope..... it was 3 hours away!!!! way too far down the speed humps but if you were here back in those days, you had to escape from the "hardship" of ad, no shops this was before ad mall and marina mall arrived on these shores and yes the only real shops that we had to "look" forward to was Deira City Center.

And that stupid fewking roundabout type thing that just appeared without warning. gave me many a scare. Did break up the boredom a bit...
