Default Freehold in other Emirates?

Anyone know the rules for RAK and Dibba area for expat freehold / property ownership laws?

Also any good articles to full explain the recent law change in Dubai?

Cheers.

Ok - you know I post here a lot - I am just after some useful info on the property situation in Dibba and RAK.

If you could provide a link or 2 to relevant articles that would be useful.

Gimme a break.... thx.

Save 7days, newspapers in the UAE print whatever the government wants them to print, so basically you wouldn't find anything 'relevant' you'd find 'bullshit'

To be honest, i think there is the same bullshit 'leasehold' in rak as dubai, you can lease in the designated free zones. nothing close to it in dibba though.

Officials from RAK once told me that RAK has always been able to sell freehold to expats. This may be possible if when they joined the Federation, a year late, they didn't fully sign up to the constitution, or they were allowed special exemptions.

Who knows? It could be worth checking though.

More to the point is why you would want to? Dubai is supposed to be the 'stable', 'developed' Emirate and look what happened to the property there. As if the build wasn't shoddy enough and the prices took a dive quicker than an Italian football player there, imagine what RAK would be like!

Interesting... how to check this out? RAK Municipality perhaps?

A google for dibba propoerty for sale did not bring up single result of a property actually for sale!

That is kind of my starting point. If by some very unlikely event, one could actually buy freehold (land only or old dwelling) you may be potentially able to build a property to your own specs and build quality and purpose... also potentially quite cost effectively too...

I know it is very unlikely, but worth looking into I thought...
