Flights to anywhere interesting from Riyadh over Hajj?
 

I'm planning to go away over the Hajj break (late October to early nov) but I see flights are mostly already full (eg the only available flights to Italy seem to take 25 hrs plus....which is insane)

So, does anyone have any tips on interesting and relaxing places to go from Riyadh that don't involve 11 changes?

Check gulf air. They do deals on Wednesdays. Via Bahrain but relatively cheap.

Have you thought about Mecca? Popular during hajj so it's best to book.........

Actually, this isn't as insane as it sounds.

During Hajj, thousands of planes fly in full, but leave almost 100% empty. And with people flying in from all over the world, there must be some cracking deals if you're flying in the opposite direction.

See if anything is available on Air Arabia. You will have to stop in Sharjah, but its an okay little airport. They do serve alcohol at the airport (just not on the planes), and there is a transit hotel downstairs despite what airport staff tell you.
They go to places like Sri Lanka, Goa etc which would be a nice short break.

Has the Saudi govt (or whoever) told us what days are holidays for Eid yet?

UAE have said Thurs 25/Fri 26/Sat 27 for private sector

Always worth trying Skyscanner to see where you can fly on a given date. :thumbup: Just fill in the start location, and date, but leave the destination blank.

Bahrain has some good deals on offer - booked the other day to escape the Hajj madness....

@ saudiflares - Our Saudi company has listed 25th-29th as Eid break - so maybe 27,28,29th are the 'official' days??????
