Looking for some advice regarding gyms.

My flatmates are members of Fitness First at Ibn Battutta mall, and, while its close to our place in the Marina, 400Dhs /month seems a bit expensive. Any other suggestions / experience with Fitness First?

I'm with fitness first and go to the gym at mirdif, its good, everything brand new but man it gets mega busy, they do have a big outdoor pool though which is great for lying around next to and having a dip now its dead hot.

Gyms aren't cheap over here but I'mhappy enough with fitness first.

I'm not sure you will find anywhere cheaper than 400Dhs a month, and remember at Fitness First the classes are free and you can use other Fitness First gyms around the world- handy if you travel a lot or when you go on holiday.

If you live in Dubai Marina surely your building has a gym in it, or are you looking for company and more equipment?

I live in JBR--so the gym won't be open for another year or so...

That's a shame, though we do not call JBR as part of Dubai Marina. A new and large sports complex is opening up in Dubai Marina at Wharf II later in the year.

Just JBR. The tower blocks that block the view from Dubai Marina to the sea !

Dubai Marina towers surround the marina. JBR is across the other side of Al Sufouh Road, which extends all the way into the marina area.

What you are calling "the marina" is just phase 1 of the Marina, the whole area is called Dubai Marina and half of the JBR overlook the marina itself i.e. the artifically created inlet where boats can dock. JBR are within the Marina, as is Damac Waves and all the towers down that end.

They opened a new fitness first in media city. drove past it a few days ago but don't ask me for directions. they are really good, I go to the one at Ibn Battuta and you have every piece of equipment you need. this one is a really large one, downside is no pool but the media city one has a pool.

Apparently the Media City Fitness First is going to cost 500Dhs a month, so a bit more than Ibn Battuta.

Just joined the Ibn Battuta one and they said you can use any so don't see how they would charge more?! I really hope half the people at Ibn battuta use the media city one as the place is packed; I had to queue for a shower the other day! nuts!
