the first few months - shared flat?

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a shared flat their first few months of arriving in Dubai?

I have a hotel paid-for in my first 2-3 weeks in Dubai - and being single in Dubai I am considering sharing (paying rent for) flat/villa/house for the first few months to get used to Dubai/meet people/live with other expats.

I'd really appreciate any insight on flat sharing, leads (have been on gulf news but there are about a MILLION non-descriptive ads for flats and people looking for flatmates in the marina mostly.

Specifically how would I find an expat with a professional flatshare(all mod cons, own bathroom, great view, pool, etc.) near to DIFC?

Modestly, I'd be the idea flatmat - excellent cook, tend to have copious amounts of wine on hand, clean & tidy, massive music selection, spare time spent in the gym or on the beach in the sun...

Thanks!
R (canukabroad) & LOL as I re-read this post.

the best two places to look are dubizzle.com and expatriates.com

they both usually have plenty of rooms going in shared villas and apartments. a lot of which are for short term rent on a monthly basis.

for DIFC i would recommend trying to find a room in a Villa Jumeirah or Umm Suqeim. both nice areas close to the beach and close to a lot of the nice bars/clubs etc.

PM me if you want any more info

Im moving on the 24th, and will be staying with a friend fr the first 2-3 weeks, but after that i will be looking for a share in Jumeirah. I'll be working in The Palladium from March or from home to start with, but keen to find somewhere nice to live in JBR. When are you moving? Where are you moving from in the UK???

Re: the first few months - shared flat?

I would recommend sharing to start with, so you get to know as many people as possible.

But, try and pay by the month, so you can leave when you want to.

I'm sharing for the first year, and one of my housemates is the most untidy person I've ever met, its digusting.. and I lived in a crappy student house for three years... so thats saying something!

DIFC is the Dubai International Financial Centre on SZR.
Jumeirah could be a bit of a pain for getting to Festival City although you will be going in the opposite direction to the jams

just have a look on the websites you have been given you might find something with a pool withi your budget.

might be easier if you keep your question about accomodation on one thread then its easier for everybody to follow. You'll probably get better answers that way.

Just need to keep ringing and go and see a few places in different areas to get a feel for them

Good luck :)
