Default Favourite place to eat and drink in Dubai

Now i have prob frequented most of the eateries and refreshment outlets in this gosforsaken place.

Usually it is a safe assumption that you can tell they type of person by the places that they hang out in.

i.e socho=complete arse lebo wannabee

So come on, where is your

a. Quiet/local drink location
b. night out with the lads/lasses
c. night out with husband/wife/bf/gf
d. romantic meal
e. casual meal/family meal (kids)
f. when mates from UK are over

Lets be honest and not try to 'out pretence' each other here

a. Lakes CLub/ Montgomerie GC, my locals i suppose. In mirdif it would be Dubliners or Biggles

b. Gotta go deep into Bur Dubai. hmmm York International-nice

c. I like the Beri Bar in Mina Salam or Left bank in Madinat

d. Vu's or Pierchic or I had a lovely meal recently in the Dusit

e. When we have kids in company, we like to go to Spice Island- great for the weans.

f. a difficult one; have taken mates to a wide ranging array of places ranging from the IV, Jockies, Apres, Golden fork in Bur Dubai after visiting the Star-wars bar (AKA TGI thursdays)

So you have all come to the conclusion that i am a sad deranged alcoholic then?

The Star Wars Bar! LOL!

It's called the Cantina. And Dubai is definitely Mos Eisley.

My favourite day to day restaurants are Al Mallah in Diyafah (which is an institution), Ravi's in Satwa and Noodle Bowl in Al Diyafah.

can't be bothered to answer them all!! le Classique at Emirates Golf Club is the special night out place - along with Prime Rib at Le meridien. If we are taking sprog out at night we always do Billy Blues or Cactus Cantina. We aint really been out much since we had sprog as no childcare etc. Lunch eats - different story out every day - St Moritz, Biella, Art Cafe, The Square, La Fontana, Oceana at the Hilton, country club (best hangover food). And I went to Goodfellas once with a very strange geordie that I met through this forum!

I've been looking for decent ribs since being let down a few times here. I was gutted when I realised that Tony Roma's don't do the pork ribs here. I used to frequent the branch in Taipei, and their baby-back ribs were a delight.

FACT.

it is great and completely child friendly too, one the main reasons we use it, we can take sprog along with us. Cactus Cantina next door is prob the best tex mex in town. Both of these have been around for the last 10 years that I can remember! good established restaurants that aren't full of lebo's!

the only good thing about billy blues is that you can chuck the monkey nut shells on the floor. it was terrible the three times I've been... Cactus Cantina shouldn't be allowed to call itself mexican - the food is some of the worst ever.

If you are in Rydges - Coconut Grove is fantastic and one of the best Indian places in town and the Italian on the ground floor is alright...

And what with the sudden Lebanese bashing?

monkey nut thing no longer happens. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and personally I love both Billy Blues and Cactus.

each to their own - can't believe they stopped the monkey nut thing... try the mexican in Arabian Court next to the muesum - it's not bad.
