Family visit during Ramadan

Family visit during Ramadan
Am I insane to be thinking of getting my wife and kids out during Ramadan? We were looking at the last week in May which coincides with the Whit week half-term and I've just found out it clashes with Ramadan. Flights are a lot cheaper than around Easter. I vaguely remember restrictions last time and eating places in malls being shut through the day, but will there still be brunches on and stuff?

Ramadan is one of my favourite times of year!
Short days and now that the whole boozing restrictions have been relaxed somewhat, whats not to like?
Also May isn't totally ball meltingly hot.... well not quite.

Ramadan has changed a lot in the last few years compared to what it was like when you first lived in Dubai.
They first started allowing select bars to be open during daylight hours about two years ago, and last year more bars were open and even brunches were still allowed to go on.
Mall food courts are now usually open but screened off.
After evening prayers it's business as usual.
Theoretically no eating/smoking/drinking in public but as Ramadan drifts deeper into the tourist season who knows how enforced those policies will be?

I've spent last Ramadan here with wife and kid. It's much easier now. Malls are open and you can eat at restaurants which are screened off. Take aways are working as usual. Dubai has much more Chinese tourists now and those are not respecting anything either, openly drinking and eating. Since most of them don't speak English they cannot be told off either.
