Facetime in UAE
Hello,
I have an unlocked UK apple phone and wondered if I could use this for Facetime when over in the UAE? If not, would anyone be able to recommend a reliabe way to video call to the UK?
I have read on some pages that facetime/any other apps for video calling do not work very well in the UAE.

Skype works on and off, not sure if on or off at the moment if I'm honest but I use Skype for Business on the work laptop if needs be.
That being said, I never skype home, I just ring Mummy or Daddy or Granny when I'm in a cab and pissed or in the car on my own.

I tried to FaceTime over the weekend and it wasn't connecting. That's through Etisalat. I think it may still be accessible through DU.

Thanks for the advise folks.
Will just make calls when possible but the grandparents will be kene to do video calls with the kids as much as possible so hopefully we can work something out.

There is a UAE app Botim which is free to download. Subscription with the phone company is AED50 (the price of a pint) a month. It works perfectly well on data, only one ‘user’ needs to pay the AED50.

Botim is AED 50 on your mobile contract and uses data or AED 100 on your home wifi with multiple users.
