Exporting our car from DXB - MCT
We recently moved to MCT and most things are now sorted out - liquor licence, PO Box, bank account etc. We're going to get our Oman driving licences after Eid and will then return to Dubai to see friends and pick up a few things we can't find here in MCT. We're also going to export our car from DXB to MCT on this trip.
Found this on OmanForum:

but it's somewhat out of date. Has anybody recently exported a car DXB-MCT and can let us know if anything has changed?
Any advice gratefully received.

Dunno. I exported within the Emirates. DXB - SHJ and ABD - SHJ a few times and generally what you do is de-register the car, they put in on export plates, then you have 3 days to register it somewhere else.
Apparently (I was told - could be BS) that there are quite a lot of cars going the other way MCT - DXB as for some models they are considerably cheaper.

I did it 2 days ago or at least the trader I sold it to did
you may have to go through testing depending on age of vehicle
cancel DXB plates
purchase temporary insurance 100AED
cancel registration and sign over for export, he needed to show Oman licence, another 100AED
collect export plates
he said there was also an import tax to pay at border which he did mention was "negotiable" I guess there's also another Oman insurance to pay too ?
was easy enough tbh

I'm pretty sure someone asked that recently.
