Sorry if this has already been posted but it seems that Bahrain will soon be scrapping the expat sponsorship regime which even their own government likened to modern slavery. UAE next perhaps?

From what I have heard they are certainly going to water the current system down. Can't be scrapped altogether as there are too many on too good an earner.....

Plus I think they have made huge inroads with their Bahrainisation efforts a long time ago, so they don't have the 'imbalance' that exists in the UAE.
The numbers of people this applies to is comparatipvely. Probably. I think.
