Etihad vs BA vs Qatar

Hey folks,

As everyone I'll be shooting of home(UK) for Christmas and have been looking for flights. The options from Abu Dhabi are mainly Etihad, Qatar, BA.

Etihad is extortion but I know their service and planes are great.
BA is cheap, last time I used them 3 years ago in premium economy it was 'ok'
Qatar I have never used but it stops over in Doha so the flight is longer.

I was wondering what people's opinions are on the AUH to LHR flight is?
I really want to go on BA again but I'm worried they have become worse!?

Anyone with some experience?

Emirates provide a coach service from AD to DBX. Have to agree that Emirates has the edge but I am not sure if they are worth the journey from AD. My vote would be Etihad or BA. We have been looking at flights from Doha to Manchester for Eid and the prices seem to be a lot more than last year :(

Does it matter? It's only a 7 hour flight - just go on price.

(Anyway, I think BA economy is the best of all economy options)

Have you considered a flight with a short stopover someplace nice? Part of a day or a day in Rome on the way to or from London as an example?

@Millhouse, 7 hours on a plane is ages! I'm considering their Premier Economy? BA economy a few years ago was a disaster!

@Myusernamewastaken, That is definitely an option, rather be in London thou :)

@Soukie, check out Etihad economy prices, they have lost their head!

@Scamp, he has to be, at least I hope he is! That flight was horrible!

I find BA Economy better than Etihad in Economy; but that is only if it is the 777-200 from AUH.
The 747 from DXB feels more cramped
Qatar has the best seats and the best food, but I do not see the point of having a 10 hour journey when 7 hours would do; and Doha airport still uses buses .........

How about Wizz air from Dubai World Central? Goes via Budapest (90 euros single) to Luton (9000 Forint = 30 euro single), doesn't get any more cheap n cheerful :-)

From May for a couple of months you'll be able to fly Emirates (and FlyDubai etc.) from DWC but I don't know the destinations yet.

Note: DWC is only about 25 minutes further North than AUH.

Couldn't agree more.

Especially if you have a connecting UK flight, BA is the best option. Otherwise you have the joys of British Midland in the UK (and probably changing terminals at LHR which is a pain at the best of times).

However....

Travelling through Heathrow at Christmas is something I won't be doing again if at all avoidable.

When I moved here I flew BA and it was ****ing atrocious. They seem to have a really poor attitude as part of key training for all staff, then entertainment systems are SHITE and they forgot my ****ing golf clubs.

Emirates are worth the money just for the TV / Movie selection etc.

Rare for me to completely agree with Scamps but my experience of BA was exactly the same and I was premium economy.
