I have an Ozzy friend travelling to Qatar and therefore needs a visa at the border. Does anyone know if he can pay cash or use his UAE debit card?

I think they do not have credit card facility, its better he takes cash

Just been told by the Ministry that he can only pay by credit card.

the reason I was for cash, beacuse when i was going to oman they told me that they will take card but over there they did'nt had the machine.

I think it is correct as some of my team have travelled and always used cards but can't recall if it was obligatory. I spoke to the Ministry in Qatar. Will know on Sunday!

The traveller will but does not have a local credit card and wanted to avoid fees etc

right...didn't know there is such thing as a local credit card..isn't it all just Visa, Mastercard etc...

that said, sometimes UAE credit cards don't work abroad ... mabye it is the visa ones
