Emirati ID card

Anyone having problems trying to fill out the forms for the new ID cards online? I often manage to get the first two pages filled, before the site crashes on me. I've tried several times a day for the past three days, with no success.

I have an appointment booked this Saturday, but at this rate I can't the online forms completed! What should I do? Turn up empty handed and complain?

Do you have to get an appointment? If so, with whom? I thought we just turn up and queue like everybody else here.

Bearing in mind that there are some 5-6 days of Public Holidays in December, no way will we get ours before the year end deadline. According to a recent official statement, there will be no fines issued to late-comers...meaning that the deadline will probably be extended.

I agree with you on that. The kids are off school for practically all of December :(

I filled mine out online the other day, took all of 8 hours due to website issues. Even then it is still all screwed up. No matter what I chose for Job Category, when it came to the final print out it showed up as Dubai International Financial Centre - but then bureaucracy that doesn't work should not be a surprise.

what about families of the chaps with degrees? Can I pretend I have no qualifications?!

It's a bit worrying about the "those who don't get them in time won't have access to medical facilites, etc..."... does that also apply to private healthcare?

Gosh, this is a royal balls-up just waiting to happen!

All professional and graduate residents working for the private sectors such as (Directors, managers, Consultants, specialists, doctors, teachers, engineers, journalist, PRO’s, Accountants, financial experts, IT professionals, technicians, programmers and their family members.

Shit, according to that, I'll need to register. :curse: As a Mechanical Engineer without any mechanical or engineering knowledge, I thought I'd escaped.
I wonder if I could change my visa to teaboy???

Still, how's about the private healthcare thing? Will that be refused? Not being funny, but in the unlikely event of them not being able to process all the ID cards in time, I'm still going to have to get to the doctors!

And THAT particular document still says 2011 deadline for expats...

housewifes can wait until next year to get theirs, I don't think it is linked to your private healthcare :)

hmm... I don't think I can escape, tbh. After all, I am a family member and on a need to know basis only, pretty qualified.

Still, I have to wonder what services would be denied... or even what services are on offer anyway?! hehe
