Could someone please give private messgae a contact number for the British embassy social club and the Australian embassy social club in Riyadh. Wouldl like to join after three weeks of not even coming across a Western face and starting to feel like im going slightly mad!!!

there is never anything going on in Riyadh.

Try also the Irish society in Riyadh, if you ring the Irish embassy they will give you the contact details, they have something on once a month usually in the embassy

It seems like you need to part of a secret network to get into embassies.

I really don't think it's a case of needing to be a part of a secret network. Networking does however help a great deal because invariably somebody will know somebody who knows somebody that has a couple of tickets. I think some of the embassies however have been really bad at reaching out to the expat community for whatever reason, which can be self-defeating because you never know who might meet who and be able to help person A with person B's problem.

Other than networking, which is a must if you are going to survive, get out and join the various societies that abound in Riyadh.

The embassies do not arrange the various social nights, it is all done externally through the societies and clubs. You will not get access to the British Embassy social club as that is open only to staff.

I was in Riyadh for 2 years and never did i once get an invite in the British Embassy, However the rest of them yes i certainly did.
The British Embassy is one of the most clicky type of place i have ever met here in the middle east,

True, but Staff are able to invite a number of guests, sponsoring them onto the embassy. If you know somebody at the embassy, you may find yourself getting an invitation.

That's true and have been to a watch a number of 6 nations matches at the Wadi Club, but the OP seemed to be under the impression that he/she could phone up and get access.

Ah yes.... that is a big fat no. At least for the time being. You never know, they may well change it at some point haha!
