Not personally (Me? On a bus?) but visitors have and they report that it is just fine.

I've taken the bus out of curiosity in the UAE a few times and never had any issues except once on the bus in Abu Dhabi from the Tourist Club to Khalidiya - smell was terrible thanks to the people on the bus but otherwise no issues.
I generally prefer public transport as I can read or relax and it's statistically safer...ashamed to say I think I've taken the bus four or five times in ten years!

I've taken the EY bus from Dubai to AUH plenty of times, and it was always fine. Easier to sleep in than a cab.

I've never really trusted buses. The driver could go anywhere, unlike a train which has a track. I worked in London for years before I was happy taking a bus rather than the tube or a cab

Seems likely since it actually appears on my e-ticket (hence the EK 7008 designation). I now have to find out if I HAVE to use it--knowing that airlines won't let you fly any leg without having flown the preceding legs.

Then yes you do - they will expect you to have already checked your luggage through before boarding the flight.

In fact even if you've not booked the bus, if you show up holding a valid ticket to fly on EY that day, they'll let you on.

Knowing the prevalence of conflicting information in this neck of the woods, I think I'll work on the basis that I have to take the bus. If its full of the sans culotte, I'll grab a taxi.
