Default Eid Holiday

As the first day of Eid has been confirmed as being Weds 1st October, does that mean that the private sector in the UAE will only be getting two days off (Weds-Thurs) or will Sunday also be an off day?

Our office bit the bullet and confirmed that regardless of moon sightings, we wil have Weds, Thurs and Sunday off. I suspect that some other firms will not give the Sunday though.

Well as Singapore isn't an Islamic state I think one day off is not a bad deal.

I'll be in Singapore next week to watch the GP

they have to give religious days off to appease the diverse local population.
The Malays are muslim so thats why its a day off.

Spugsy, try not to contain your excitement but it gets better in December... 2 and 3 December are public holidays (in AD at least) for UAE national day hotly followed by Eid Al Adha which falls on 8 Dec - again, for three days.
