E-gate card
 

Does anyone know how easy is to obtain an E-gate card now. Can you do it in the airport (and if yes, how long does it take) or you can get it in advance in Immigration department? Thanks

We went to get ours from Dnata on SZ Rd, my wife got hers without any problem there and then. However there finger print machine could not record enough lines on my thumb or any of my fingers and hence they couldn't give me one!! Needless to say I haven't been back yet!

Reckon i'd make a good criminal!!

would ypu please explain where 'Dnata on SZ Rd' is. Is it in Abu Dhabi? Or Dubai?

What is 'Dnata'? And what is 'SZ Rd'.

Sorry to bother you with such questions, but we are new in Abu Dhabi.

it saves you having to stand in those endless lines which is a plus in my book...and you also use it when you leave Dubai...
not really had much problems with waiting for luggage and I'd rather stand there and be able to move around especially traveling with 3 kids than queing up for passportcontrol....

..if you do get an E-gate card...get the standard one issued...don't bother getting one attached to your Emirates frequent flyer card (if you have one)..as you have to apply annually to get a new E-gate card. I think the standard issue one is for 2 years or more?

Miss the queues for passport control, hit the duty free, all with enough time to either pick up the luggage before the mob arrives or, when travelling lite, get to the taxi rank first? Defo good idea!!!

Yep definitely worth it - I wouldn't leave home (or the UAE to be more accurate) without it.

I got mine at abu dhabi airport - took around 15 mins. Another advantage is that it means your passport doesn't get stamped when you arrive/leave the country. I reckon without that my passport would get full in no time and would have the hassle and the cost of getting a new passport and i'd probably need to get my UAE visa onto my new passport which would be more hassle.

Don't even think of flying from or (particularly) to Sharjah without one...

MataHari..I did read the link but could not find where I can get it in AD (I know I can get it in AD airport but want to get it in advance). The links says that I can get it in the AD Police head quarter....but as I called them they keep on sending me to Immigration. Just wanted to save time and get info over the phone..but it looks like I have to go to AD police and ask them. So, just wondering did someone get E-gate in AD (but not in the airport)...Thanks

i heard that you can get your egate card in Departures at dubai airport, it is open 24 hours?!

Can anyone confirm?

Im going to play in the rain for a weekend next weekend... i cant wait to have peaspudding and a proper sunday dinner!!!! :thumbsup:
