According to an old copy of Connector on my desk, you can get dyslexia assessed and treated at the Dubai Herbal & Treatment Centre ( 04-3351200) but I have no idea how they do it.

off the Beach Road somewhere, do a search on them they are bound to have a website. I think if your son was dyslexic it would have been picked up before now though?

I have used Evelyn Seika at Dubai Community Health Centre.
I know that there isn't many people to do the assesment and she was the earliest available.
Ask the school for recommendations - also you can try Kids Frist Al wasal road and see who they have.

Good luck - its a long hard struggle.

I found this clinic which might be of help to you: http://www.drmccarthypsychologyclinic.com/

Also this is the number for the Dubai Dyslexia Support Group: 04 344 6657
I think it's privately run so it's best to call in the evenings apparently. It was listed in the Dubai Residents Guide.

Dyslexia can be diagnosed quite late, especially if it's a mild form.

If you don't mind sharing the details, how 'bad' is the problem?

My younger brother was 'diagnosed' with dyslexia quite young, but a brilliant teacher (an ordinary schoolteacher, not a dyslexia 'expert') spent some time teaching him typing skills.....

......... worked wonders.

Not sure why or how it worked, but popular opinion suggests it wasn't dyslexia in the first place.

There are is an awful lot of misdiagnosis with dyslexia and Dyspraxia.

Always have two assessments done.
