DXB to Atlantis hotel without being ripped off
Quick bit of advice please DXB folks
I have booked my mrs a weekend of RnR at the Atlantis. What are the options and a rough idea of prices to transfer to the hotel from the airport so I can tell if I am being ripped off, Arriving DXB lunchtime Thursday so traffic shouldnt be too bad....... I hope

Don't forget that all taxis from the airport have a surcharge, Dhs 30 I think. I assume that is to compensate them for hanging around, but as others have said all are metered to you cannot be 'ripped off'.

To sit in the taxi (surcharge) - 20dhs
To where I live in Bur Dubai - 40 dhs
From home to Internet City - 50dhs
So I'd say around 100-110dhs to the Atlantis.

To JBR (Rimal) late at night, it's around AED90, so AED100 seems about right.

Thanks for all the replies. And yes I suspect that the bar prices will be a bit unpleasant however the wife had it in her head that after having people point shotguns at her at each checkpoint every morning; she deserved a break and she wanted to experience the place so why not. If it is tacky then tacky can be good sometimes, like a previous post that included reference to whether bra and knickers should match. Sometimes red knickers, black bra and transparent white blouse is definitely 100% sleezy bedroom fun but at an evening function its not.
This mini break is definitely the former so bring on the tack and tat by the bucket load. We are not going for the culture

It's not that tacky. Just expensive.

You are so biased/predictable! I don't like JBH very much - too many sunburned Brits.
For a classier place on the beach I'd vote for the Dar al Masyaf villas at the Madinat (if you don't mind the odd Russian in leopard print budgie-smugglers), Royal Mirage or the Park Hyatt.
