Dubai - where should i live?
new here...!
There's an ever-increasing chance that i may have to / be able to, re-locate to work in Dubai next year. If i did, it would be for at least three years.
No salary negotiations as yet - it is early days.
In order to inform those discussions, i'd like a steer on where you think i should consider living?
I'm an architect and will be bringing a family. Wife, 7 year old and 3 year old.
I'm not looking to spend the earth, or live in the ultimate lap of luxury, but want a reasonable amount of space, comfort, & good access to amenities, schools, activities and family life. Would love access to a pool etc.
Would welcome thoughts.

Hi yeldud
Where you live will depend on where you will be working and where your kids will go to school. Until you know these things it's pretty impossible to give you advice.
There are some great areas in Dubai for expats to live - depends on what you are looking for. Almost every building or compound will have a pool. The driving is pretty awful here so the best thing is to pick somewhere that will not give you a major commute.

I can count on one hand the people I know who don't have a pool in their compound or somewhere near their building. Abu dhabi was a different story. He's a western expat. Chances are he'll end up near a pool.

Re: Dubai - where should i live?
yes - i'd like to be near a decent pool. (not just a hole full of water) I'm a bit addicted to a few km every week, not to mention something for the nippers. Seems like good exercise given the heat, and an aversion to gym-bashing - unless the pools are as warm as baths..

If the pool does not have a chiller, then expect pool temps to be around 34 degrees C/94 degrees F from June to October. Swim 'slow style' to build up stroke efficiency ready for .......
.......If pool does not have a heater, it will get pretty chilly Jan to March (26 C/75 F). You just have to swim fast to keep warm!
Good luck with your new adventure and looking for a nice home for your family.

and with all due respect to the OP - get things finalised and then hit up the forum for advice, as it is, right now you are kinda pissing in the wind so to speak.
