There was a thread on this last year but I can't make the search function work at the moment.

Has anyone been recently as I seem to remember some chatter about it being made easier to cross (ie not having to go to both of the border posts).

Any tips?

The Dubai side is supposed to be renovating one day but they'd need a large building to combine with the Oman border control - it's about 10 km away from the UAE border control.

So I guess the answer is they haven't and it's still the old procedure....good oh'

We went to Hatta Pools a few weeks back with no border controls whatsover? Had a look on a map and seems you're definitely in Oman there?

yup - no border at Hatta - from dubai you go into oman and then out and then cross the official borders out of dubai and into oman

Done it now, and back. Basically the existing border controls apply! Exit visa (out the car), security, entry visa (out the car)......done!!
