does anyone know what happened to this? I assume that they soon realised that this was going to be a failure (unless they staffed it with filipenos to keep the overheads down)

I swear on all that is holy there was one in late 2004 when I lived in the (still under construction) springs.

in safa park there's a little indian dude with a bike and a big load of ice creams and stuff in a little fridge, its ace, I got a lovely strawberry ice cream just after I'd finished playing footy.

Don't recall icecream vans in AD, but there always was Indian guys on tricycles with freezers, selling drinks and icecream in the Corniche.

This little blurb from the 2 British brothers is funny and amusing.

He added that the van is even starting to bring together the different nationalities which make up the country, providing them with a meeting place.

Hear the van most afternoons in Arabian Ranches ... it's got the tinkly Greensleeves music playing, too. Guess they must be getting some reasonable business or they wouldn't keep coming back.

Excellent news. We don't have anything like this in AD and it would be great if we did.

The beach at the Walk could do with a visit from Mr Whippy too!

There used to be a whole bunch of ice cream vans, very little Suzuki vans with generators sitting on the kerb on the corniche in Sharjah

Saw one at the Gulf Bike Expo last weekend. Didn't use it as they didn't have any beer flavoured ice cream.

One comes round the Gardens most days. Not staffed by Brits but kids love the lollys. No actual Ice Cream only frozen stuff

To do it "legally" was impossible in 2004 when we looked into it. And we looked a great deal, with and without Wasta, nothing to do, nada, Hygiene and Safety depts. of the Baladiya would have never had given an approval. But rules change a lot in Dubai, they're elastic like the truth, bending under extreme pressure and temperature.
