Well if you want to go 250kmh the best place to do it is early on a Friday morning on Emirates Road near Um Al Qwain. I'd never do it between AD and Dubai.

I'm just wondering which motorways aren't monitored. If I recall, there's camera or radar things every so often on the road to Abu Dhabi or Dubai making one slow down as soon as speed is built up.

there are cameras everywhere these days and they are getting pretty hot on fining people as well. Why bother speeding?

Because they bought the cars and they want to use them to their maximum?

Unfortunately, that's the attitude that prevails amongst a lot of the young Emiraties who were born with a silver spoon in their mouths.

Granted, it's not all of them, but almost every car I've seen over the past six months speeding past the taxis I've been on on SZR (most of whom were speeding as it is) were being driven by young Emiraties around my age.

Taking their cars off them for doing 200KPH isn't enough. They should take it off them for doing 130KPH. That's 30KPH more than the 'speed limit' and 10KPH more than the unofficial speed limit.

100KPH isnt the speed limit though on a lot of SZR it is still 120KPH.

I have to admit - the speeding situation has improved greatly since arriving in 2004. Back then, the "limit" was 120 and traffic would flow at 150, dipping to 130 to avoid getting flashed. Dubai has definitely improved.

An odd phrase really since most accidents by definition are "regrettable"!
